That should become our national greeting once The Donald takes office.

These were literally the biggest photos I could find on Google. And Kinja doesn’t like small photos. Also fuck you.

I’m touched that you’re willing to inflict five different private label root beers on yourself just for our edification.

Is this it?

Off-topic: Did you know that in Canada they have root beer with caffeine (something that doesn’t exist in the US) and their “Mountain Dew” is this light fruity beverage without caffeine?!

I thought caffenaited root beer was a thing everywhere. Also, our mountain dew has caffeine now. We didn’t have caffeine before because of a ban on caffenaited clear pop.

Dr Pepper.
All other cokes suck.

I thought Dr. Pepper was considered a Pepper-style soft drink whereas Pepsi, Coke, etc. were colas.

Caffeinated root beer is definitely a thing in the states.

Ginger Ale:
1. Sussex
2. Everything else.

In the US, as a rule, root beer will not have caffeine. I believe there are some small niche companies that make it, but no national brand does it.
Yeah, I heard that changed. I haven’t bought it in some time. I liked the decaffeinated Canadian Mountain Dew because it was so much less harsh...

Apparently it’s inconsistently caffeinated in the US now, but it all has always been in Canada. In many regions of the US, it wasn’t and still isn’t. Apparently they don’t mark which is which. In Canada they very proudly mention it on the label...

Having lived in Canada most of my life I don’t think I’ve had any of those.

What the hell is that?

I’ve had a few, the list seems fairly consistent with my experiences.

Heaven in a can. It’s only sold in the Maritimes. You might be able to get it in Ontario, because I think it’s bottled in Mississauga now (it’s originally from Sussex, NB).

It’s a Texas joke. Dr Pepper was invented in Texas (you can visit the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco and still see the original well used to source the water for it), and around here, all sodas — regardless of brand, and whether colas or clear sodas — are called “cokes” except Dr Pepper.
Also, there’s no period after the “Dr” in Dr Pepper. :)

Isn’t Barq’s a nationl brand? It’s owned by Coka Cola now, and definitely has caffeine, not much, but it has it - 22.5mg/can. Hence the “Barq’s has bite” ads.
